The period of SARS leniency towards trusts has come to an end - enforcement is now active. Monthly administrative penalties apply automatically to any outstanding 2024 and 2025 trust income tax returns.
Having been formally gazetted on 27 March 2026, the trust penalty regime has now taken full effect. Following the grace period afforded by SARS, penalties are now actively being imposed.
