Some news articles worthy of a read this past week.
Thing to note here is that markets generally tend to trend upwards in the long term. But we are feeling the heat now as we are living in the moment and often times forget to look ahead.
With a market trending down in the short term, and inflation going up, the question is no longer whether is it safe to let your money work harder for you(invest), its a matter of how to make your money work harder, and at the same time ride out volatility and keep up with inflation in the long term.

This week’s news articles on retirement, fixed deposits and the Cancer Drug List.
These topics has been the talking point between the client and myself this past 2 weeks.
Concerns about rising cost of living and the fear of them not coming down has caused panic to pre retirees to second guess the sufficiency of their nest egg.
The Cancer Drug List is another issue to take note, as the potential cost of treatment can go out of control should the patient have to self fund their treatment without insurance
And on a good note, deposit rates has been on a rise. Is it good to capitalise on it? Will it help or hurt your retirement?

Buying a 2nd property comes with the potential upside that many are yearning to have, but as the article suggest, paying ABSD to do so might not be the best choice.
Ultimately, the many hoops and red tapes around this 2nd property may make it very stressful for the owners.
Using other financial vehicles, we are also able to attain the potential “rental income” or even “upside” without the risks and hassles. There will also be cases where there are “guaranteed tenants” and “guaranteed buyer” for this investment of yours.
Oh, did i also mention that the capital outlay can also be much lower than that of a property?
Do let me know if you would like to explore such options and I will be most glad to help:)

Employment data is one of the most important factors to look at when we are looking to see if the economy is healthy. With more people being employed, productivity will go up. Companies can produce and workers have income to spend.
And if spendings are increased, demand will increase, resulting in an attempt to increase supply. This cycle will be able to ensure a healthy economy.
