Meet Ollie from NZL Contracting Ltd.
He took over the family fencing & earthworks business last year, and joined a recent Sidekick business workshop to get a clearer understanding of his numbers and where he could take the business next.
Before the workshop, Ollie was relying heavily on referrals, with an under-performing website and no social media presence to help showcase the business or attract new customers.
Since attending, he’s created Instagram and pages and is preparing to launch a new website designed to showcase their work, reach his ideal customers, and create a pathway for online enquiries.
We love being part of the journey for young business owners like Ollie.

We provide accurate and timely advice to enable our clients to make the best decisions. We’re more
We reckon every business owner should prioritise 3 things when running a successful business.
The aim isn’t more hours, it’s to spend your time where it creates the most value.
1. Automate the repetitive.
Use technology like Xero, Hubdoc and payroll software to take care of the admin.
2. Define your numbers.
Real-time visibility over your cash flow, profitability and upcoming commitments helps you make better business decisions with confidence.
3. Get proactive advice.
Don't wait until the end of the financial year to talk to your accountant. Regular conversations, like our quarterly meetings are where we can delve into forecasting, tax planning and growth opportunities. Saving you time, money and unnecessary stress.
With the right systems, the right visibility, and the right people around you, your business will thrive!
Business is easier with a Sidekick:
If you know what your version of success looks like, we’d love to help you reach it.
Talk to us today.

Congratulations to Timaru’s Richard Wheeler on being named a finalist for GAP Advisor of the Year.
If you've ever worked with Richard, this recognition won't come as a surprise.
Whether he's helping farming businesses make better decisions, mentoring the team, or sharing his knowledge across the industry, Richard is always looking for ways to help people be more successful.
That's what great advisory is all about. Helping people understand their numbers, make confident decisions, navigating some tough conversations along the way.
Richard has been instrumental in building Sidekick Rural, alongside Brett into what it is today. He's respected by clients, trusted by referral partners, and the kind of advisor many of us aspire to be. Even our CEO, Ric, will tell you he still learns from Richard and strives to follow his example.
We couldn't be prouder to see him recognised alongside some of the best advisors in the country.
Congratulations, Richard. We'll all be cheering you on at the GAP Awards.

Imagine our surprise when flicking through the latest Acuity Magazine
Sidekick has been featured in Acuity's article, ‘How to Find New Clients’, alongside three other accounting firms standing out in the digital marketing and social media space.
We didn't know this article was being written or that we were going to be included, which makes this recognition even more meaningful.
For us, it's never been about posting for the sake of posting. It's about helping people define their numbers, make better business decisions and get to know the people behind the advice.
What we're especially proud of is that this approach doesn't just benefit the our brand. Through the Sidekick network, we're helping the firms within the group grow too, giving them access to professionally developed marketing, content, campaigns and resources that would be time consuming to create on their own.
If you're an accounting firm looking to strengthen your marketing while staying true to who you are, we'd love to have a conversation.
A huge thank you to our Sidekick family who contribute ideas, share their expertise and help bring our content to life.

Meet Louisa and Lou from Horse & Cat Vet Wairarapa, who joined a recent Sidekick workshop that we held at Copthorne Solway Park, Wairarapa .
We asked them why they applied, and what they’ll be implementing in their business now that they have more clarity.
Our workshops aren’t about theory. They’re practical, hands-on sessions designed to give business owners the time and space to think differently, and walk away with ideas they can actually use.
A big thanks to Louisa and Lou, and to everyone who’s trusted us to be part of their journey.
Queenstown and Wānaka… we’re coming for you next!

Join us, meet local business owners just like you, and work ON your business.
What a turnout for the Sidekick Roadshow with Cameron Bagrie this week.
Over 100 people joined us at Copthorne Solway Park, Wairarapa to hear Cameron unpack the economic outlook and what it means for New Zealand, our region, and the businesses and farms that power it.
Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and spent the evening with us.
The proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to local non-profit Hōkai Tahi / Perinatal Support Service (formerly Crisis Pregnancy Support Wairarapa), supporting free services and counselling from conception through to one year postpartum.
