Have a second income? Wondering what tax code to apply?
You’re not alone.
Tax codes are used to ensure you’re paying the right amount of tax on your income and can vary depending on several things, such as:
*Whether it’s income from your main job
*If you're receiving income from another workplace, or
*Whether you have a student loan and/or benefit, for example.

Considering nominating a person to act on your behalf? This could be a useful option for those relocating overseas.
You can let someone act on your behalf for your Inland Revenue responsibilities. Your nominated person can:
- contact us and act for you
- complete and sign your tax returns and other forms
- receive the information we send to you.
Note: Even though a nominated person can act for you, they cannot use your myIR login.
