DIY Accounting's Real Hidden Danger
Many business owners manage their own books to cut overheads. In reality, this often leads to missed tax efficiencies and massive time drains that cost far more than outsourcing.
The financial landscape is becoming increasingly complex. For example, the UK government is legislating a 60-day cap on payment terms to address the late payment crisis.
If you miss how these regulations impact your specific cash flow, the penalties can outweigh any software savings. You deserve a proactive strategy that protects your margins.

UK Owners: Cashflow Crisis Coming?
Many business owners fixate on profit margins, but that is a dangerous trap. Profit is a reporting metric for the books, not money in the bank.
You know, it can easily mislead you about your actual financial health.
I recently worked with an owner who was profitable on paper but still faced a constant cash squeeze. The solution was not about cutting costs, but adjusting his pricing strategy to protect liquidity.
The real question is exactly how much liquid cash is moving through your accounts. That is where real financial control begins.
I am Yousuf Malik, and I help businesses move beyond basic compliance to proactive financial strategy. Contact me on [email protected] or call on +447769204822.

MTD (Making Tax Digital) for ITSA (Income Tax and Self Assessments)
From April 2026, MTD for ITSA will apply to sole trade businesses and landlords with a gross business or property income above £50,000 per year. Sole traders and landlords earning above £30,000 will follow in April 2027.
What does it mean?
Once the deadline approaches, sole traders and landlords with earnings over the threshold can no longer submit their tax returns manually on HMRC website, individuals must use HMRC approved cloud based softwares to submit their returns electronically and maintain all their records digitally.
They'll be required to send HMRC quarterly summary updates of their business income and expenditure unlike the current system of a single submission to HMRC by 31st of January or by 31st of October if submitting paper return.
A Final Declaration will also need to be made, to include other sources of taxable income such as savings and investment income.
Still thinking there is enough time to get yourself prepared for the change? Well think again as time flies.
Accord Accountancy can help you get ready for this change.
